Welcome, How to Join

To learn about some of the benefits of timebanking have a look at the different pages of the site. You can direct any and all questions to IdeasforAmerica1@gmail.com.

1. Fill out a member profile at salem.timebanks.org. The site you are on now is for informational purposes – - if you decide that you want to do an orientation the fill out what you can at the salem.timebanks.org site. You won’t be able to do trade or set up a profile until you do an orientation and pay the $10 fee. After you do those two things you will be activated.

2. Complete an Orientation: The role of the Orientation is to learn the protocol about giving and receiving services, navigate the members area of the website and establish safety standards. This takes about 45 minutes – -we can meet at any of the local coffee shops.

3. Pay the $10 Annual fee. The $10 fee for 2012 ($15 for 2013) helps to pay for the costs of running the timebank. Getting the organization going takes a great deal of work, but once our active membership reaches about 50 this should take care of expenses.

True North

This is an exciting story about timebanking and health care in Portland, Maine. It’s fun to try and picture the story one of the staff tells of community members blossoming under the timebank system, through which they can contribute and get what they need in return.
